Post To Wire is a blog dedicated to the different strands of Americana music. We publish reviews, interviews, news and multimedia content from alt-country, folk, blues and rock ‘n’ roll artists from Australia, New Zealand and around the world.

After establishing the music website Doubtful Sounds I found that I was also driven to develop a secondary blog focusing exclusively on Americana music. A life long Neil Young obsession was the initial spark that led me into a musical world that included the likes of Wilco, Richmond Fontaine, Ryan Adams, Hank Williams, Karen Dalton, Nick Drake, Will Oldham, Jason Molina, Lucinda Williams, The Felice Brothers, Loretta Lynn, Gillian Welch, Lambchop, Howe Gelb, The Band, Drive-By Truckers, Townes Van Zandt and many, many more. This is music that is heartfelt, emotionally rich and sonically thrilling, from the most ramshackle hoedown to a single plaintiff guitar and voice it is music that speaks both to and from the soul.

  • PTW has interviewed Lucinda Williams, Wilco, Ryan Adams, Jason Isbell, David Rawlings, Old Crow Medicine Show, Justin Townes Earle, Lindi Ortega, Joshua Hedley, Marlon Williams, The Wilson Pickers, William Crighton, Houndmouth, Nathaniel Rateliff, Ruby Boots, Eilen Jewell, Deer Tick, Valerie June, Lachlan Bryan, Pokey LaFarge, Simone Felice, Aldous Harding, The Lumineers, The Morrisons, Suicide Swans, Davey Craddock, Lo Carmen and more.

  1. Hey Chris

Stumbled upon your site – great stuff – love your choice of Top Albums for 2012 – I have a few selections but will explore the others. No doubt the name (P to W) taken from the fabulous Richmond Fontaine album of same name – saw them live a few years back at ANU and met Willie – very humble and sincere man – hope you get a chance to read his books – excellent stories, you can just hear his soundtrack behing them.
Just bought album by The Glorious – good to see Aussies having a stab at “down under Americana”. Cheers Geoff

    • Hi Geoff, thanks for the comments. Yep, the name was need taken from Richmond Fontaine’s superb LP. They were fantastic at the Hopetoun in Sydney a few years back. I’ve read his novels too and they are just as vivid as his songwriting. I hope they get back down to this part of the world again soon.

  3. Enjoying your site very much. You cover a lot of great music especially new releases. One I haven’t seen yet is a band called Buffalo Rose. Their new album is stellar and worthy of a listen. It’s called “The Soil and The Seed”. You’ve given me so many good tips on new groups there is one for you. Happy listening! Cheers
