Ballarat VIC singer-songwriter Jeremy Beggs has a new single coming out tomorrow, his second songwriting and recording collaboration with Matt Joe Gow.
‘Signal Me In‘, a heartfelt song about seeking guidance and strength in life, expresses “a longing for a supportive partner to be a beacon of hope, even in challenging times,” explains Beggs. “Ultimately, it’s an expression of our longing for different people to bring clarity and purpose to our lives.”
Beggs was thrilled to be able to record with his band for the first time. In particular “it was really special to have Ross Tweeddale and Craig Ditchfield play on this track. I feel fortunate to work with so many talented musicians both in my local area as well more broadly across the state and now, interstate. All who provide different signs, ideas and support. I don’t think there is any weakness in saying that we all need someone who can provide strength, clarity and purpose. That’s part of the human condition,” says Beggs.
“In a way, the song’s construction parries with its themes. The song needed the three of us to signal it into completion.”
Built on a rich and atmospheric sound, Beggs’s gentle and earthy vocal winds its way between the laidback propulsion of the rhythm section, an organ and evocative guitar twang. The pay-off is the rousing, heartwarming chorus that lifts and carries the song with a sense of hope and optimistic intent.
Jeremy has performed at festivals such as Hide & Seek, Cresfest and Tamworth Country Music Festival, at numerous venues across Ballarat and Melbourne, and opened for a number of acts including Matt Joe Gow and Things Of Stone And Wood.
