MJ Lenderman has become a firm favourite around these parts with his indie slacker rock sensibility that leans into both prime time Crazy Horse and the ache and melancholia of Jason Molina. He’s pleasingly prolific too, with three albums and last year’s live record, alongside his work in the band Wednesday.

Today Lenderman has announced that his new album Manning Fireworks will be released on September 6th via ANTI-. He released the single ‘Rudolph’ last year and the lead single/video, ‘She’s Leaving You’ is now also released. Watch the music video, directed by Whitmer Thomas and Clay Tatum, below.

The song has that great worn and weathered guitar sound, possessing the spirit of Dinosaur Jr and Drive -By Truckers. Lenderman’s weary melodies ride the freewheeling music with ease. It’s exactly as a Lenderman song should be.
