Fanny Lumsden & The Thrillseekers have today released their brand new single Sea Elephant School ahead of their Timber & Steel + Post To Wire Presents East Coast tour which kicks off in Sydney next week at Soda Factory.
Sea Elephant School is the first single to come from their next EP, scheduled for release in November and it was written by Lumsden whilst sitting on the verandah on the family’s farm in the shadow of Mt Buffalo. Inspired by her Grandmother’s stories of life dictated by a Mountain and growing up on King Island where the Sea Elephant School was a beacon for the community. Produced by Matt Fell of Love HZ studios it features a wealth of instrumentation including banjo, mandolin, double bass, piano accordion, harmonium, q-chord and Tambourine.
Carrying on from their debut release, the Autumn Lawn EP, Lumsden has again combined folk, bluegrass and twang into a wonderfully rich melodic cocoon. There is a gentle drive and liveliness to her writing and that combined with the tapestry of instruments she has utilised makes Sea Elephant School a celebratory ode to family, life and the land.
