On her third album Humphreys continues to explore confessional folk music, this time with a dash of country thrown into the mix. Kasey Chambers produced New Moon and though there are elements of twang on songs such as ‘Read My Heart’, Humphreys is more of a fellow folk sister to Caitlin Harnett and Melody Pool. Primarily these songs document affairs of the heart and the overall feel is of the endearing afterglow of newfound love – with an ode to a streetlight thrown into the mix. With a sweetness to her voice that never cloys, Humphreys has penned a generally optimistic, heartwarming and mature set of songs.
