THE WEEKLY ROUND-UP: 5th June, 2015

The Weekly Round-Up

Circumstances prevented us from getting a Weekly Round-Up together last week but we’re back this week. Last Friday we presented a show at the Petersham Bowling Club in Sydney and it was an attentive and appreciative audience that were treated to stellar sets from James Thomson (accompanied by bass and fiddle), Davey Craddock and Roland Kay-Smith in full band mode with the always excellent Jeff Pope on guitar. Thanks to the musicians and everyone who came along.

A few news reviews have hit the internet this week. We’ve written about the new Alison Ferrier and Mark Lucas albums with reviews of other new releases from Jed Rowe, The Deslondes and Dawes coming shortly.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK:

Here’s a flashback to Nirvana’s 1993 Unplugged session for MTV and Cobain’s raw and riveting take on the traditional American folk song ‘Where Did You Sleep Last Night’ aka ‘In The Pines’ that was popularised by Lead Belly.
