Sydney’s irrepressible alt. country songstress Fanny Lumsden is on the cusp of releasing her debut album Small Town Big Shot (September 2015) and to kick things off she’s released the video clip for its first single ‘Soapbox’. Filmed in the country NSW town of Tallimba where Lumsden first went to school the song takes aim at naysayers and armchair critics who unfairly diss others without understanding or giving them a chance. It’s a quick-stepping and vibrant song in something of a similar vein to Kacey Musgraves, while still managing to blend the sound and vibe of both the country and the urban experience.
With country towns forming much of the subject matter for the album Lumsden will be heading out on a regional halls tour, which she has done before on previous tours, as well as supporting Suze DeMarchi on a few dates and officially launching Small Town Big Shot at St Stephens Hall in Newtown, Sydney on November 14th.
