NEW MUSIC: Pinto Bennett – I Like Singin’ The Blues In A Honky Tonk Song

Pinto_Bennett_Front_Page

Authentic, organic, humorous, old school dusty floor honky tonk sounds from Pinto Bennett, the Idaho musician who made his first recordings at age 16 in 1964 with a rock band called The Fates before being seduced by Wynn Stewart’s Bakersfield country sound.

By the 2000s, his hard living caught up with him in the form of three heart attacks and a stroke, which stole eyesight from one of his eyes but more recently he came to the attention of Jason Beek (Eilen Jewell) who suggested they record an album together. The Last Saturday Night (out now) is the experience-laden result of those endeavours and features Jewell alongside guitarist Jerry “Cold-Blooded” Miller and others.

“Ain’t two peas in a pod or two beans either. There ain’t but one Pinto Bennett. Thank God. So you best pour your ears full of his knowledge quick as you can. It’ll go straight to your heart.” – Billy Joe Shaver
