Melbournians Danny Walsh Banned have today revealed the video clip for their brand new single ‘Old Disco’, a old-time, cosmic and alt-country blend that swings and sways on the back of some beautiful pedal steel and fiddle (Chris Altmann and Kat Mear of Cash Savage &The Last Drinks). There’s a really nice weary/melancholic undercurrent to the song – beneath the fading, neon-lit surface.
‘Old Disco’ is the first single from their forthcoming new album and is described by Walsh as “Old Disco is a long-faded raver’s lament on the changing nature of Melbourne’s nightlife scene, recalling vividly their partying days in the futile quest to recapture the moment. “Old disco, old disco/Where are the of people that I used to know?/Their faces smile somewhere in an old photo/Flash before my eyes in slow-mo/And nostalgia’s a hopeless show/while the doorstamp on my wrist /Just won’t let go…”
The psychedelic video directed and produced by Andrew Watson (Semiconductor Media) and features the enigmatic Paul Kidney and his equally effervescent partner, Jules Dazzle.
