Sydney songwriter and avid Sharks supporter Sam Shinazzi is back with his first single in four years. The softly-phrased and melancholic ‘I Wrote A Book For You’ was used in the closing credits to the award winning Australian film Book Week and is the first taste of his sixth album, due in 2020.
Descending chords, augmented by some sweet pedal steel segue into Shinazzi’s tender tale about the depths of love and devotion. There’s a real country patina to the song yet you can still hear his indie songwriter roots via the likes of Elliot Smith and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy.
Michael Carpenter recorded and co-produced the single with Shinazzi at Love Hz Studios as well as shooting, producing and directing the video clip.
