I love the laziness of this song. The way it gently unfurls and spreads itself across the speakers. It has that jangly 90s slacker aesthetic, wrapped up in a late afternoon, sunburnt afternoon kind of country vibe.
Max and the Martians hail from New Orleans and are based around songwriter Max Bien-Kahn. ‘Please Hold On’ comes from their latest release – Please Hold On/Love On Vacation, a 7” teaser of two songs that will be featured on their next (and second) full-length album.
“This is a love song to everything we lose,” says Bien-Kahn. “I wrote the lyrics years ago when my grandpa was struggling with Alzheimers, but the song didn’t take form until recently. When loss and grief found me, I rediscovered this song and it took on new life.”
