A few weeks ago, Andy Sydow released his new EP Wicked Dreams and our favourite track on it is this one – ‘Feel Like Gold‘.
There’s some Petty in his sound, some Nathaniel Rateliff too – framed by some fine organ playing as he soars into a killer chorus on the track. It’s a polished melodic song but the production and the delivery makes it heartfelt and free in the way it fills the speakers. You can hear country-rock and there are some wonderful soul horns adding even more life and energy as the song builds and blossoms. Local Australian comparisons would be Mitch Dean and Davey Craddock.
According to Sydow, ‘Feel Like Gold’ is a polite jab at today’s society. “If we stick to hate, then all that’s left to do is wait and see.”
The new EP is his latest release following three full-length albums. When Sydow isn’t touring the US and Canada, he spends his time talking to other creatives and professionals in the music industry on his podcast, Middle Class Rock Star.
