VIDEO PREMIERE: The Winnie Blues – Lonely Love

On the day of the release of their debut album Half Wide Awake, But Dreaming (Two Hands Records), we’re very happy to premiere the video clip for The Winnie Blues‘ new single ‘Lonely Love’.

The core of the group is Alice Beatty and Cameron Potts, two Australians who met at a Ruby Boots gig in New York in 2016, and as fate would have it, met again eight months later when both of them had moved south to Nashville.

Shot in downtown Nashville at 5.30am, the video highlights the juxtaposition of the individual in a setting that is usually teeming with people. It works perfectly for the song that’s gently propelled by a dreamy, cosmic country sound. Unhurried and filled with beautiful and subtle instrumental moments – piano, pedal steel, shimmering electric guitar and more. Change – the willingness to make it happen and the pain and indecision involved in doing so, is at the core of the song.

‘Lonely Love’ and the rest of the new album is a panoramic and modern take on country soul and the iconic template of Gram and Emmylou. They honour the country trailblazers while still pushing the music forward and also finding ways to blend emotive indie rock sensibilities.

As part of their debut album launch, The Winnie Blues are set to tour across the U.S through late-summer/fall of 2021, starting with their album launch at Nashville’s famous Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge on Friday July 30th.

Half Wide Awake, But Dreaming is out today.
