Today we’re featuring two tracks from Billy Bronsted‘s new 2022 album Rhythm, Racket & Romance, recorded with his band The Loot. Bronsted hails from Wisconsin and the new album follows his 2017 release This Bed Of Mine.
‘Ain’t Lying’ (I Love You)‘ digs into the age old subject of love and realisation, as Bronsted explains, “Shamelessly about a night I realized I was experiencing a deeper love than I had before. We fought that night. We are still together today.” Over a positively funky rhythm section, his voice carries rich, soulful and clear across the night sky. Local fans of Magpie Diaries here in Australia will appreciated the soulfulness of this track.
‘Chains‘ shows a slower, bluesier side of Bronsted. His voice strained and carrying a heavier weight as he confesses “relationships are hard, also harder to work things out when drunk.” Check out the classic but perfectly placed solo that spirals out of the emotional miasma around the five minute mark.
