I was lucky enough to catch Anna Weatherup live at Dashville Skyline recently and she played an impressive set of soulful multi-genre songs, all sharing a rich vein of emotive, world class songwriting.
Last week she released her new single ‘The River’ and last night the excellent video clip for the song premiere on YouTube. Tune-in and join the chat once it goes live. The video, shot, directed and produced by film-maker, Leanne Hanley, is a beautiful black and white gothic noir clip, combining the mystical and the organic – the perfect visual interpretation of her atmospheric, dreamy alt-country sound on the single.
“I was inspired to write The River after watching the film O Brother, Where Art Thou. It is about turning from our old ways which damage the planet and each other and being reborn into change.” Anna says.
‘The River’ comes from Anna’s forthcoming new album Crossing The Sea, out March, 3rd, 2023.
