VIDEO: Dave Favours & The Roadside Ashes – There Goes The Neighbourhood

Dave Favours and band released their latest Cheap Motels After Midnight album in April and to round out a successful year the Sydney alt-country group have released the video clip for the single ‘There Goes The Neighbourhood‘, a song that takes a bleak look at the changing times, people and places of their hometown.

According to Dave, “I was driving through my neighbourhood one day and I’ll I could see was development and change. Small businesses have gone broke because they can’t keep up with the big guys, building development is everywhere but future generations won’t be able to afford to buy a home. A cup of coffee is 5 bucks and people can’t afford to drive anywhere because they are being fleeced by greedy oil companies. The Australian dream has become a nightmare for so many people and it just made me sad.”

The clip, animated by Neil Williams, works a clever melancholic Monopoly angle as the character wanders through the crumbling facades and fading memories of a city moving forward and burying its past.
