CAITLIN HARNETT RELEASES BRAND NEW SINGLE CELEBRATING THE REWARDS OF FLYING SOLO

With her band The Pony Boys, Caitlin Harnett has been kicking up a storm on the live circuit these last couple of years. Pandemic be damned, the band have been scoring some sweet support slots (Orville Peck and Charley Crockett) and plenty of headline shows as they continue to build a devoted audience across this great southern land.

Surprisingly it’s already been three years since she released Late Night Essentials, an LP of which we said… ” heartache and melancholy never sounded so fine on this collection of Americana country-soul songs from the back streets, bars and bedrooms of Sydney’s Inner West.”

Now we get to hear the first taste of the new forthcoming album. ‘Even Cowgirls Cry‘ is a swirling paean to flying solo and embracing romantic independence. The guitars push and pull in a circular, chiming fashion over a sweet, relaxed rhythm section that ambles and sways before Billy Ward’s saxophone elevates the song into a gentle reverie that begs repeated listens. Caitlin’s voice is perfectly phrased, her melodies riding the undulating musical wave and sounding relaxed and at one with the music and the wistful lyrical ruminations.

“I wrote ‘Even Cowgirls Cry’ for a friend who was battling between letting people into her life and the realisation that she was better off on her own. It’s okay to be alone and happy,” says Caitlin. “In a world where we are told to believe that we need to have a partner to be happy, it’s easy to forget that you can just love and romance yourself every day and that’s just as special.”

‘Even Cowgirls Cry’ is another gem from a songwriter who continues to go from strength to strength with each new release.
