Sunshine Coast songwriter Emma Bosworth and her band The Meeting Seasons are releasing her new EP Placement tomorrow (November 24, 2023) and I’m very pleased to be able to premiere the EP’s focus track ‘Spooko‘ on PTW today.

‘Spooko’ is all dreamy, drifting cosmic country. There’s the ethereal echo of Mazzy Star drifting down the decades but Bosworth takes it into more of a psych twang trance, pulsing along through the lush sonic humidity that pervades the track. Hypnotic guitars slow dance with percussion and stately bass notes as Bosworth sings of dreams and spirits.

The recording of Placement took place in Bosworth’s home studio under the guidance of Rohin Jones (formerly of The Middle East). The studio itself is a labor of love, creatively constructed from up-cycled materials dating back over a century and ornaments salvaged from Brisbane’s iconic venue, The Zoo.
