SINGLE PREMIERE: Pete Campbell – Away

Folk-rock and blues songwriter Peter Campbell will release Parley, his second EP, this Friday and I’m very pleased to be able to premiere the new single ‘Away‘, out tomorrow in celebration of the new release.

Parley contains five original songs by Campbell, a prolific solo performer around Sydney, including the beautifully swaying acoustic guitar and heartstring violin folk rock sound of the first single ‘Nest For You’.

‘Away’ explores the ideas of connection and the breakdown of a relationship, with Pete singing ‘It’s not the same and I can see every time she looks at me / It’s not a lust for any more when I call you mon amore, away.’ The lively drums and acoustic guitar paint a picture of hope and optimism yet it’s tempered by Pete’s vocal that brings a melancholy and sense of loss to the track, recalling the melody and mood of some of Nick Drake’s compositions.

Produced and recorded by Marc Scully @ Studio 57 Recording in Sydney, the Parley EP is out Friday Nov 24th on CD/digital via Bandcamp and on streaming services.
