Jep and Dep (Darren Cross and Jess Cassar) have a brand new single out this week and today they’ve unveiled the accompanying video for ‘Babe Come Down’. Shot in rich black and white the pair serenade the ocean and themselves via some gothic ghostliness. It marries the song perfectly, which highlights the duo’s ability to capture and maintain drama and tension in their music via the most simple of instruments, guitar and voice, plus in this case some finger-clicks and string augmentation. We’re expecting special things from their debut LP Word Got Out, due later this year.
In their own words:
The Babe Come Down sound harks back to the way songs were recorded in the 60’s -live and in one take – no auto tune- no vocal trickery- just a song, two singers and a vintage acoustic guitar. Slowly and meticulously, the lush orchestration is built around the track…the strings, the double bass…the sound of lovers and fighters.
