After months of testing, surveying and researching, the new digital radio station Double J launched today as an alternative to the programming offered up by triple j. Their mission is to “bringing you a cohesive and diverse mix of the best new music from Australia and overseas, plus the songs and artists that triple j has championed over the past four decades.”
From an Americana music point of view the great news is that we have a two hour slot on Monday nights (8-10pm) dedicated to all things alt-country/folk hosted by the supremely talented Emma Swift. Emma is now back in Sydney after living in Nashville where she spent time writing, recording and performing her music whilst soaking up the history and atmosphere of the country music capital. She of course will be familiar to many of you as the host of Fbi’s In The Pines radio show and previously on triple j. Emma is a great songwriter in her own right, both solo and in the duo 49 Goodbyes, with a release under her own name due soon. She also currently plays with Suzy Connolly and others in the country covers band The Lost Threads.
REVELATOR broadcasts Monday nights 8-10pm.
A show dedicated to sourcing bittersweet melodies and lonesome lyrics from folk, alt-country, Americana, roots, rockabilly and folk rock.
