To kick off November we have two impressive songwriters who approach country music from equally interesting perspectives. Dan Parsons has a smooth-sailing West Coast country folk vibe built around songwriting that is often much darker in subject matter than the music may at first suggest while Jason Walker is a rootsier singer, guitarist and songwriter who is someting of a local legend. Two sides of the same coin that promises to be a a captivating journey into the heart of country and folk music songwriting and sublime guitar playing.
Currently touring to celebrate the release of his new album ‘Valleywood’ and hot on the heels of performing in Nashville, award winning Melbourne singer-songwriter Dan Parsons will bring his unmistakable brand of classic country, folk and pop to Heartbreaker Sessions.
Walker has a new album being readied for release soon via Lost Highway Australia and it follows his acclaimed solo LPs ‘Stranger To Someone’, ‘Ashes & Wine’ and ‘Ceiling Sun Letters’. Walker of course is more than just a solo artist, playing in a number of bands over the last few decades and contributing pedal steel and guitar to countless recordings in his classic country style.
This session will take us from Laurel Canyon to the back porch of Townes Van Zandt’s Texas house via live sets from these two respected songwriters.
Freda’s is open from 4PM, Post To Wire DJ set and live music from 6PM.
