Adam Young has a brand new single and video clip for his song ‘The Queen Of The Plains’, featuring the backing vocals of Emma Swift. It’s the first taste of his debut solo album Elementary Carnival Blues, due out in February 2016. The single possesses an evocative hazy/jangly tone that conjures up images of traveling down a wide open road, steeped in the sound of bands like Buffalo Tom, R.E.M and The Lemonheads before blossoming into a panoramic horn-led Calexico vibe.
Young has played with a number of bands including Daisygrinders and Big Heavy Stuff and has penned songs that went on to be recorded by The Lemonheads and You Am I.
Young will be launching the single on Friday 13th November at the Marrickville Bowling Club – presented by Stanley Records, Post To Wire and Shark Island Brewing Company, with support from Sam Shinazzi.
High-quality song and execution. Sweet. Love the backing vocals and the jangly guitar. The horns are nice too.
