It’s been a long time, way too long, since Welch and Rawlings last toured Australia in November 2004. Finally the good folk at Love Police have managed to hook up a comprehensive tour that will see not one but two tours happening back to back.
Starting in Perth the duo (plus 3-piece band) will drive to Adelaide and then up the East Coast playing shows as Gillian Welch before switching things up with a string of shows down the coast as Dave Rawlings Machine. The Machine live band will feature Dave and Gillian, as well as Willie Watson, Punch Brother Paul Kowert and fiddler Brittany Haas.
Word is that they may not be back again for a long time so make the most of this tour(s) and get along to experience magical song craft and superb musicianship.
“We are very excited, once again, to be bringing our songs and our selves, and a few of our good friends, all the way from Tennessee to the land of Australia way down under. We will be driving the wild back roads from Perth to Melbourne, Sydney to Brisbane… come out and say howdy when we roll in to town!” – Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Nashville, Tenn.
