Henry Wagons just released his solo album After What I Did Last Night… last week and he’s backed that up with a clip for one of the album’s strongest tracks in ‘Santa Fe’.
The song is an interesting one for Wagons. It takes a leaf out of The War On Drugs’ songbook with its atmospheric, swirling sound, heavy on vocal and keyboard effects, underpinned by a great Krautrock groove. There’s a melancholy, a sepia-tinged drift to parts of the song that stir up feelings of longing, distance and separation before that insistent chugging rhythm carves out a forward and optimistic momentum.
