We’re excited to be part of what is becoming a tradition and Americana highlight of the Tamworth country music festivities in recent years.
Now in its fourth year, Late Nite Alt has found a new home downstairs at Tamworth Services Club. As well as a new venue, they’ve also partnered with Footstomp Music, The Americana Music Association of Australia, Lost Highway and Post To Wire to deliver three phenomenal nights of free alt-country music.
Continuing the tradition, Late Nite Alt will feature plenty of surprise artists – no one knows who’s playing across the three days until 10pm each night (previous years have seen Marlon Williams, Kasey Chambers, Shane Nicholson, Busby Marou perform) but to whet your appetite we can announce that at the Post To Wire showcase on Friday the night will kick off with performances by multiple CMC Music Award 2017 nominee Fanny Lumsden, Katie Brianna and Sam Newton with Jen Mize acting as the host for the evening.
The brains behind the nights is musician Matt Henry:
“I had been going to Tamworth for a few years and just couldn’t find my audience. I decided to stop going until it dawned on me that some of the biggest and most popular artists at the festival considered themselves Alt-Country artists. Why then was there not an alt-country gig? So it seemed that everyone else felt the same and on the first night we couldn’t fit everyone into the room. In subsequent years we have added nights and still people haven’t fit in the room so this year we’ve got a bigger room. Now there are Alt-Country and Americana gigs everywhere at the Tamworth Country Music Festival which is wonderful. Our goal is that we take over the town!”
