New York native and now Nashville resident Hayes Peebles is on a roll with this current run of singles. We recently posted the fine ‘Riding High’ and now he’s backed that up with the widescreen and effortlessly catchy ‘Riddle Me’ that sounds like Ron Sexsmith on a euphoric country rock bender.
The song was sparked in part by a night of heavy drinking at Greenpoint haunt The Palace and the encounters that always ensued with the many homeless that camp out in the park across the street from the bar.
According to Peebles it’s about taking responsibility but not knowing what to do with it. “It’s a song about being a piece of shit, but in the way we all are. It’s a song that in no way offers clarity or unveils a moral philosophy- it just begs the questions we’d all like answers to in the hopes that maybe somebody has got some.”
