This week there are three quite wonderful new albums hitting the virtual stores. First up it’s the prolific Charley Crockett who releases his new album Welcome To Hard Times, a record he’s been teasing with a run of thematically linked video clips.
In the absence of a new album of original material (it’s been nine years since Harrow & The Harvest), Gillian Welch has released the second in her series of bootleg albums. The first was the Revival Bootleg – Boots No. 1 and now she’s issued Boots No. 2: The Lost Songs Vol. 1 the first of three albums in the next few months, covering 48 tracks recorded between the making of 2001’s Time (The Revelator) and 2003’s Soul Journey.
One of our absolute favourite artists – Bobbie Gentry – receives the reissue treatment with her classic album The Delta Sweete, 52 years after its original release. It follows last year’s re-recording of the album by Mercury Rev, Margo Price, Hope Sandoval, Lucinda Williams, Norah Jones and more.
this release features a brand new stereo mix of The Delta Sweete, created (by Batt) from the original multi-tracks. The two-CD edition also features the original mono release which has never been issued on the format before. Available as 2CD and 2LP vinyl deluxe editions.
