In the great tradition of spaghetti western meets surf guitar music, here’s the German group Beyond The Breath Of Grace and their fine instrumental track ‘Atacama’. Named after the desert in Chile, it charges along at a fair clip of its hooves, conjuring up evocative western images of desert dust rising against sunburnt hills.
The Berlin-based ensemble explain that the song was “formed and composed while I was facing cancer and doing chemotherapy. It was about facing the desert, looking onwards while being in constant danger. Morricone was a great inspiration in that period and in some sense this project is an homage to the maestro.”
