Sydney musician Looch Lewis has released a cover of Died Pretty’s ‘Free Dirt’, the last track on their 1988 album Lost and strangely the title of their previous album though the song didn’t appear on it. The original featured Don Walker on piano and Astrid Munday on backing vocals.
Lewis stays true to the original, with its stripped back feel based around acoustic guitar, electric piano (Jadey O’Regan) and bass. He’s also found a superb singing partner in Peta Caswell, their voices a real treat in their contrast and blend.
A guitarist/drummer by trade, Lewis is also currently playing with Looch Lewis & the Press Gangsters, Handsome Young Strangers, Dave Favours & the Roadside Ashes.
