Jen Mize & The Rough N’ Tumble released their debut single ‘Elevator Ride‘ (AMRAP charts #1) a few weeks ago and now we’re very pleased to be able to premiere the video clip for the song, directed by Ashley Rees.
A songwriting collaboration at a songwriting retreat between Jen Mize and Jeremy Edwards kick-started this exciting new project and it quickly expanded out to a full band experience, including Mitch Power (guitar, vocals), Zac Watson (bass), Andy Shrav (keys, vocals), Steve Fearnley (drums), Matt Luff (saxophone), Tristan Rogers (trumpet) – bringing Mize and Edwards’ songs to life in the studio and on stage.
Mize once again shows her consummate skills as both a songwriter, musician and singer. She’s always navigated country, folk, soul, jazz and funk styles with an exquisite balance of technique, craft, spirit & soul – the results always sounding authentic and richly imbued with heartfelt honesty. Here, she and Edwards channel Southern soul and loose limbed country R&B with an undeniable swampy groove that is further enhanced by Mize’s world class voice.
‘Elevator Ride’ is all about the energy, freedom and exuberance that comes from finding such a rare collaboration, a true partnership in music. The song is a celebration of life, friendship and belonging and it’s perfectly captured in a video that celebrates the joy of musical union and creativity.
‘Elevator Ride’ is out now, debut album coming early 2023.
