Melbourne band Cold Irons Bound have a new single out today called ‘Conversation‘ and we’re very pleased to be able to premiere the video for the song on PTW.

The reassuring sound of warm and burnished, distorted alt-country guitars ring out as ‘Conversation’ takes flight. There’s a jangly power-pop strain coursing through the song that recalls R.E.M., 78 Saab, Tom Petty and Teenage Fanclub.

Some of the band’s other material is more alt-country (see previous single ‘I Wasn’t Thinking At All‘, with its Bob Mould meets Jayhawks feel) but this finds a real sweet spot between distorted twang and the noisy shoegaze of Swervedriver.

The genesis of the song lies in a David Crosby guitar tuning that the band decided to try out… and a song was born.
