Aldous Harding blew many people’s minds with her debut, self-titled LP three years ago. Since then she’s been keeping busy with plenty of live shows and more recently, completing the recording of its follow-up, Party. It was recorded by PJ Harvey’s right-hand man John Parish and the first single is the dramatic Horizon. It’s a song that was jaw dropping and stuck with me when I saw her perform it in Sydney last year. It is more direct, more confident and is built on a wider musical palette than her stark debut LP. It is folk-noir going widescreen. The video features her mother, folk singer Lorina Harding.
Party is due out in May on Flying Nun Records (NZ) & 4AD (worldwide).
