Freya Josephine Hollick returns with the first taste of her new album The Real World, due for release in 2020.
Recorded at Rancho De Luna (Kurt Vile, Mark Lanegan, Victoria Williams, Iggy Pop, Arctic Monkeys) in the Mojave Desert, California, this track grooves and rolls along with a dark spirit, suggesting a further shift from the folk and sparser country sound of her earlier work. Hollick cites Gene Clark’s 1974 album No Other as an influence on the new album and by the sound of this track it works wonderfully with cosmic Americana vibes that conjure the dark desert sky, pin-pricked by stars and shadowed by cacti.
