SINGLE REVIEW: MFV – End Line

NSW (Dharrawal/Wollongong) alt-country miscreants MFV (it stands, or at least used to stand for Manson Family Values) have released an another gem of a single called ‘End Line‘ that follows recent release ‘Delecroix’ and their Buckshot Days EP – all highly recommended.

There’s a sinister girl group backbeat that anchors the songs in sultry shadowy territory while Maggie Fletcher‘s vocal casts a spell and the band twist guitar and piano notes/chords into mind-bending psychedelic shapes built to unsettle and intrigue the listener.

According to MFV, “‘End Line’ presents a refining of the band’s sound, with a new mature approach towards space that permeates throughout the track as if it’s an additional instrument.”

It’s country in the kind of form that Lee and Nancy explored way back when, with a strain of Velvet Underground mainlined through the frets. Dark, chiming twang and swirling reverb that perfectly connects the 60s to now.
