VIDEO PREMIERE: Clint Wilson – Slow To Trust

Last week Melbourne singer-songwriter Clint Wilson released ‘Slow to Trust‘, the third single from his forthcoming new album, L.A. (August 11th).

Today I’m very pleased to be able to premiere the song’s clip which finds Wilson and band performing in glorious black and white, filmed and directed by Stu Art Video Productions.

The song dances lightly from the speakers, swaying on sweet jangly guitars and Wilson’s wonderfully melodic vocal. I’m hearing the gentler side of The War On Drugs, the Australian Americana of Halfway and the songcraft and poetry of Paul Kelly.

Wilson says of the song’s creation, “I wrote the track with Billie-Jo Porter over a zoom call. It’s a song about developing a relationship that you know is worth fighting for. Taking time to build trust between each other. Musically, in the studio we went for some Tom Petty / Eagles vibes for this track.”

‘Slow to Trust’ was produced by Callum Barter and Paul Bushnell. I helped Cal build his home studio a few years back in Los Angeles) and we had planned to catch up and check out the finished space. I thought why not do a track while I’m there. Then six months later I brought the band back with me to record the album.”

Wilson launches his new album at the Lyre Room, Burrinja in Upwey, VIC on Fri August 18th, with support from Mast Gully Fellers.
