NEW MUSIC: Cody Landress-Gibson – Smoke

Let’s get stoned and turn Blaze Foley on…”

Born and raised in the piedmont of the Appalachian Mountains, Cody Landress-Gibson brings the sounds of his upbringing to life in his music. Cody writes about living, loving, and dying in Appalachia. Cody released his first EP, “Beginner’s Luck,” in 2018. His self-titled album is being released on July 3rd and if ‘Smoke‘ is anything to go by it’s going to be a fine record.

You can hear the heavy influence of Townes Van Zandt and Blaze Foley in his weary, emotive songs. Just as Blaze Foley’s infamous songwriting career began while hanging around the West Georgia region, Landress-Gibson comes to us from rural Gordon County. Check out his other recent single ‘Nights In Arkansas‘ which also something of Willy Vlautin from Richmond Fontaine in its space and evocative imagery. There’s even a Lucero sound and reference in it.
